Storms

Life is hard. Sometimes it seems that it would just be better to take a break and come back later when we feel more up to tackling life’s storms. Unfortunately, there are no off or pause buttons. In the midst of it all JESUS is there whether we feel Him, or whether it looks like He is or not. He has promised to never leave us or forsake us so we can be assured He is there.
When we weather storms we are many times looked upon as survivors. But the word survivor denotes just making it by the skin of your teeth. We are overcomers! The word overcome has a sense of victory and we are more than conquers in JESUS CHRIST our LORD! We are victorious! In the world we can be survivors but in CHRIST we are overcomers. We are victorious not because we have won a victory but because He has won the ultimate victory.
A key in a storm is how we view it. We must see as He sees. We must see what He sees. Our battle is not to victory it is from victory. JESUS has won the battle but we must posses the land. To posses the land we must see as He sees and say what He says. He never sees us defeated. He knows we are more than conquerors but our soul may not have gotten the news many times. Our minds will tell us we are not over~comers. We may feel defeated. We may want to give up because after all we think what is the use.
But we have the Good News of the Gospel, JESUS has won the victory so we can overcome. Our part is not to ask for victory but for wisdom to walk in it. We do this by keeping our eyes fixed on Him, doing what He does, saying what He says–even as JESUS said He did while walking here on earth, doing what He saw the Father do. When Peter kept His focus on JESUS he walked on water. When Peter focused on the raging sea he began to sink. When the storms of life are raging it is easy to focus on the thunder, lightening and rain because that is what we see, hear and feel. But it is only when we focus on JESUS that the storms don’t overtake us. His Peace (Shalom) will carry you through the darkest night and the fiercest storms. Focus on Him.
