Disappointment

Hope deferred makes the heart sick but a dream fulfilled is a tree of life. Proverbs 13:12 NLT

We all have hopes and dreams, longings and plans. What do we do when those don’t turn out like we planned~ when tragedy strikes or our reality doesn’t line up with our dreams? Reality is that marriages fail, loved ones depart this earthly life too soon, friends forsake us, promises go unfulfilled, arms often are empty and the longings of our hearts go unmet. Assuredly, disappointment is a formidable foe! Our disappointment can cause us to even fear hoping again, trying again~ moving forward. In this sense it is our worst enemy! To face such an enemy may seem impossible. How can we deal with feelings of hopelessness, failure, defeat and frustration? If we have committed our life to GOD’S hands there is hope. We know the Bible says GOD works all things for the good of those who are called according to His purpose.(Romans 8:28) Yet, when we are standing beside a grave that may not seem possible. Our circumstances aren’t always good but GOD is! Therefore, He can bring good out of the worst of circumstances. He has a hope and future for us that will bring fulfillment and joy (Jeremiah 29:11, Romans 15:13) But…..we have to first believe He will, trusting that He is good. It’s hard to trust when trust has been tattered and torn by life. I think that’s why GOD is so patient and kind with us~ He knows it’s hard. He never intended us to face the trials sin has created. GOD always meets us where we are when we reach to Him. It’s OK to tell Him we are struggling  to trust Him~ He already knows. There is something else GOD knows too, when you reach out to Him He is already reaching out to you, He is already there!(Romans 5:8) He is full of compassion and comfort for your soul. (2 Corinthians 1:3-4) He longs to give beauty for ashes and make the rough places smooth. (Isaiah 61, Luke 3:5) Why not give JESUS your disappointments~ those tattered hearts, those ashes, those rough places? Then watch how fast He will come bringing hope and healing to your shattered souls!
