Ephesians Prayer

I ask you, God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, give us the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that we may know You better.  I pray that the eyes of our heart may be enlightened in order that we may know the hope to which You have called us, the riches of Your glorious inheritance in the saints, and Your incomparably great power for us who believe.

I pray that out of Your glorious riches You may strengthen us with power through Your Spirit in our inner being, so that Christ may dwell in our hearts through faith. And I pray that we, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that we may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.

May we live a life worthy of the calling we have received and be completely humble, gentle, patient, bearing with one another in love.  Help us to make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. Enable us to put off our old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; and be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.

May we put off falsehood and speak truthfully to our neighbor, for we are all members of one body. In our anger help us not to sin or let the sun go down while we are still angry, and so give the devil a foothold.  Give us the strength to work, doing something useful with our own hands, that we may have something to share with those in need.
I pray we would not let any unwholesome talk come out of our mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. May we never grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom we were sealed for the day of redemption.  Help us to get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice and be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave us.

Teach us to follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.

Among us let there not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people. Nor obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving  For we were once darkness, but now we are light in the Lord. Help us to live as children of light (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth)  and find out what pleases the Lord. May we have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them.

Help us to be very careful, then, how we live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. I pray we would not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is. May we ever be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Singing and making music from our hearts to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Help men to love their wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her. May the women submit ourselves to your own husbands as we do to the Lord.  May we all honor and be obedient to our parents. Help fathers not to exasperate their children; but to instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.

Finally, may we be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power, putting on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, we may be able to stand our ground, and after we have done everything, to stand. Teach us to stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around our waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with our feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, may we take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one and take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

May we pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests being alert and always praying for all the Lord’s people. Empower us and give us words so that whenever we speak, we will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel.

Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever! Amen.
