Yield

GOD is so very good (Psalm 100:5, Nahum 1:7) and I was just thinking on that this morning when it occurred to me that I have to yield to His goodness.(Joshua 24:15,Deut. 13:19-20) I always have a choice. He never forces His goodness or makes me walk in His blessing. But, the good part is, it is always available to me.

To hear some talk it is like everything that happens in life is GOD’s will and we are just some sort of puppet. That is very false. Not everything that happens is GOD’s will nor is everything I do His will. We were all created with a free-will that GOD doesn’t take from us when we get on the wrong path or make poor choices. The Good News is that no matter our poor choices GOD has a plan to redeem our life from the pits (Psalm 103:4) we fall in or sometimes jump in!

In order for me to walk in GOD’s blessing (Luke 11:28) I have to yield to Him. He doesn’t bless greed, murder, slander,un-forgiveness, selfishness, idolatry, etc. I reap the seeds I sow (Galatians 6:7-9). When we sow good seed we usually reap much more than we sow! GOD loves to bless His children! (Luke 12:32)

When we read the many blessings the Bible tells us about we want those. They sound so wonderful— and indeed they are! We should desire them, we just can’t expect to have the blessing if we are behaving contrary to blessing!

The talk these days seems to indicate I can live any way I choose and GOD will bless me. There is no precedent for that in Scripture. GOD has never blessed the devils business. We do live in grace if we are saved but grace empowers us to live more fully in blessing. Grace never covers sin. Only the blood of JESUS covers sin.(Hebrews 9:22)

As I thought on yielding to blessing my desire to yield was even stronger! I want the blessing but more than that I long for the Blesser!! To yield to blessing for the sake of being blessed will never satisfy. The only lasting contentment to be found is where the Blesser is. The LORD is the Blesser and our lives will never have true peace and contentment if He is not there!

LORD, I ask You to give me grace to yield even more to You so that I may walk in all the blessings You desire for me!
