Many years ago the LORD gave me a short, yet very profound, analogy about marriage. One day as I looked at my diamond ring to see if it still sparkled or was in need of cleaning I heard the LORD say, “Marriage is like a diamond.” I asked the LORD to explain how this was true. He said,(1) Clean your diamond– in marriage the best cleaning solution is prayer with a lot of forgiveness mixed in. (2) They both need to soak— the husband and the wife need to soak in the Word of GOD. (3) After soaking you brush your diamond— so we are to brush over each other’s flaws (as opposed to getting hung up on them). (4) Next you polish and buff your diamond— in marriage you praise each other regularly.
Just as our diamonds take effort to maintain the sparkle so do our marriages. When we do these four simple, yet profound, things our marriages will be sparkling!
