As I was pondering today concerning how many people are of the mindset that, if God is good why is there so much injustice in the world? Why is there poverty? Why are children abused? Why is there so much sickness and disease? Many wonder where is God and what is He up to?
It is much easier to blame God and talk about, “He does as He pleases”, and so that explains why everything is the way it is. But that view is not Biblical really. Psalm 115:16 says, “The heavens, even the heavens are the LORD’s; but the earth He has given to the children of men.” In 2 Peter 3:9 in referencing God Peter says, “…..He is not slow in keeping His promises….But He is not willing that any should perish but that all come to repentance.” That is God’s will that all come to repentance. He went to great lengths to make sure we could come to repentance. But we all know that not everyone will choose the path of repentance. In the same way, heaven is His but earth he has entrusted to man.
Just as God doesn’t want us to perish, He has also given earth to men. We are responsible! Jesus said, “It is finished.” He also sat down at Father’s right hand after He won the victory for us. It is up to us to now appropriate what He finished! So we must ask ourselves, “What am I doing with what He has given me?”
