Praying Ephesians 3:16-19
“I pray that from His glorious, unlimited resources He will empower you with inner strength through His Spirit. Then Christ will make His home in your hearts as you trust in Him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long,, how high and how deep His love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then, you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.” Ephesians 3:16-19 (NLT)
This prayer Paul prayed over the Ephesian church is a favorite portion of scripture. It is an excellent prayer to pray often over yourself, your church, and your loved ones.
Here are some suggestions to make it personal instead of just a prayer Paul prayed.
- God, I ask You to empower Your church (and me, my loved ones) with inner strength.
- Jesus, I thank You for making Your home in my heart and for giving me the grace to trust You.
- Please, help my roots to go deep and become strong in You.
- May I have the strength to prevail (meaning of power here) so I understand God’s love in more significant measure.
- Help me to understand by experience the great love of Christ.
- As I experience Christ’s love, I will be made complete, full of God’s life and power.
